When it comes to gravity sports, sometimes all it takes is for us women to bomb downhill is a little shove. Other times, it takes encouragement, a discounted lift ticket, and the company of other amazing women. And that’s where this weekend’s Women’s Freeride Festival at New Hampshire’s Highland Mountain Bike Park comes in.
Sponsored by Darn Tough Verment, the women’s freeride festival can help a roadies, mountain bikers, and bike commuters alike improve their riding skills in a “gravity-fed direction” no matter their ability or experience level.
Darn Tough Vermont manufactures all-weather outdoors socks but is also passionate about mountain biking so is supporting the event to encourage more women to try mountain biking. All women who sign up for the Freeride Frestival will receive $19 lift tickets, which is 50% of the usual cost. Participants get to take part in a day full of clinics, such as basics of bike maintenance and how to fix a flat.
The festivities also include guided rides for beginner, intermediate, and advanced riders and a 5 o’clock happy hour including a band, food, beverages, and a prize raffle. Highland Mountain Bike Park is located in Northfield, New Hampshire about 2 hours from Portland, Maine. For a schedule and registration info, visit Highland Mountain Bike Park’s website.
