Terry Precision Cycling and Gore Bike Wear™invite you to attend the 2009 Wild Goose Chase, the second annual running of this wonderful bicycle ride for women which benefits Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. The Refuge provides critically important habitat for hundreds of species and unsurpassed cycling for everyone who rides there. Terry Wild Goose Chase

The 2009 ride will be held on Sunday, May 3 starting in Cambridge, Maryland on the Eastern Shore. The full $35 registration fee will be donated to the Friends of Blackwater for the benefit of the Refuge. Come and join us for a day of riding in and around the Refuge (lengths vary from 10 to 62 miles), eating, shopping and meeting new friends. The terrain is dead flat, the scenery is spectacular and the roads are quiet. It's perfect for everyone from beginners just getting into the sport to seasoned pros who want some early season miles to get reacquainted with the bike. Loosen up the legs and contribute to a great cause at the same time.

In addition to riding your bike, you can shop for Terry and Gore apparel, test ride a Terry bike, enjoy a massage, participate in a yoga session conducted by Andria Davis and take a chance in our raffle. After ride food will be provided by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation and the Eastern Shore Land Conservancy. And, yes, we will have a well-stocked goodie bag for you!

If you'd like to make a weekend of it, we'll be offering guided kayak tours, self-guided bike rides and a bird walk the Saturday before. Last year's ride sold out in days, so don't delay! We're planning for 700 riders this year. As of today, we've already taken registrations from over 300 riders.

You can find out more about the ride here. To register, please visit our Wild Goose Chase registration page.

Where: Solvang, CA
ride.y-me.org

The Ride to Empower is a destination bike ride, with fully-supported route lengths ranging from a 100-mile century to less than 32 miles.  The Ride will take place during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Solvang, Calif., October 23-26, 2008, with the 1-day ride on October 25.  This area is a prominent training ground for professional cycling teams and serves as host for the Discovery Channel pro-cycling team’s first training camp of the year. All of this will make Y-ME’s Ride to Empower an event you won’t want to miss.

The Ride to Empower offers the challenge to complete a long-distance cycling event, the opportunity to pay tribute to friends and loved ones touched by breast cancer, and an empowering and memorable 3-night and 4-day experience.  Once registered, riders receive access to an expert training program, provided by a USA Cycling certified coach, to help guide both interested and avid cyclists to success.

Participants are required to raise a minimum of $4,000, and in exchange for successful fundraising efforts, riders will receive airfare (from within the contiguous U.S.), accommodations at a 3-star hotel and all meals. Y-ME will provide riders with fundraising tips and support to help riders meet their goals. Best of all, funds raised through the Ride to Empower will help Y-ME ensure that no one faces breast cancer alone.

Climb a Peak to
Support At-Risk Youth

When: Summer 2008 - multiple events

Join Climbing For Kids, climb your choice of one of the 6 greatest peaks in North America, and receive $1,500 worth of FREE, brand-new gear.

Our 2008 season will take climbers on life-changing ascents up one of 6 peaks: Mounts Rainier, Whitney, Shasta, or Hood, the Grand Teton, or Mexico's Pico de Orizaba.  In return, climbers agree to fundraise on behalf of the Bay Area Wilderness Training (BAWT), helping us raise more than $600,000.

BAWT's mission is to provide Bay Area youth service organizations with professional wilderness leadership training and access to free, quality outdoor equipment, thus helping these adult leaders safely lead youth in exploring the power and beauty of California's wilderness.  Since 1999, BAWT has served more than 5,000 youth, since every youth leader we train gets an average of 17 youth into the wilderness.  Last year alone over 1,300 kids went on trips thanks to BAWT programs.
