I run with my Quad stroller and bike with a tag-along and two Burleys attached as a train. It makes for incredible training, and I also get personal time during longer rides and swims, while Daddy plays daddy.

While perusing Facebook, we stumbled upon this Specialized video via Terry Precision Cycling. We like it in general, but the footage of women’s downhill racing stirred WAM’s cycling editor to bring up an issue that’s bugged her for ages: the gender divide she’s noticed in the bike world.

May being Bicycle Safety Month is the right time to learn a thing or two about it, which can be summed up in three simple rules: 1) helmets are required, not optional; 2) ride with traffic, not against; and 3) body-sized sign language communicates to motorists that you are turning.

This Friday twelve of the world’s most elite female cyclists will complete in a race that, this year, includes women for the first time ever. Olympic medalists, world champions, and the current U.S. Champion will race against the clock on a 15-mile course in the Amgen Tour of California Women’s International Time Trial Challenge.
