Infinito is a new member of Bianchi’s Coast to Coast line, built to race – good enough, in fact, to get Robbie Hunter a stage win in the Giro D’Italia last year.
The Infinito’s frame stiffness is noticeable at the take-off, shooting out of the gate like a thoroughbred at Churchill Downs, but there’s no harshness as you cruise along. The tall head tube keeps your head and neck in a more relaxed position and the Kevlar material in the front fork and rear seatstay cushion your ride. The Infinito’s wheelbase is right at 100 centimeters, making for a stable ride and even handling.
The Infinito has a magical ability to amplify your efforts, transforming even a mediocre rider into a contender in a sprint. Bike makers seem to get better every year at building carbon frames that deliver speed without making any sacrifice in comfort on long rides — the Infinito has this dialed, probably better than any bike we’ve ridden this year. Despite being one of the two unisex frame designs we tested, all our female riders felt natural riding this bike.
The Ultegra version is the most affordable bike in the Infinito line. You can get the same great frame with Campagnolo Veloce or Athena drivetrains. As far as looks go, the Infinito had us at “hello.” This is one sexy Italian.
Carbon, Shimano Ultegra, $2999 (also available in a red/white color) www.bianchiusa.com
