“For Everyday Training and Style”
($169; www.suunto.com)
Suunto’s tc3 has the most comfortable HRM chest strap in the Women’s Adventure testing lineup and the watch has a feminine feel and style which testers appreciated. It was a little less intuitive to set up and use than some of the other units we tested—you’ll definitely need to peruse the owner’s manual—but if you use it everyday, that’s an easy obstacle to overcome.
Suunto does recommend strapping this unit on for every workout to get the most out of their unique “Training Effect” (TE) analysis which indicates the impact that your workout and exertion level will have on your overall fitness level. Rounding out the perks: a large face allows you to see HR, lap time, calories, time, or TE easily and there’s a permanent graphic bar display for HR; standard alarms are easy to use and help keep your workouts targeted; log-book feature allows you to review your most recent and historical workouts.
