The German-engineered Versametric is bound to turn heads in gear shops. The exposed stable back plate adjusts to a variety of heights, keeping hikers cool and comfortable during long hikes. The main section has space for a hydration system and plenty of space to pack layers, boots and extra food. The separate floor compartment offers easy access to the main pack, as long as what you need is on the bottom of your pack.
The pack offers plenty of glitz for the outdoors including a removable lid that can be used as a toiletry bag (complete with mirror and hook!) and built-in whistle to keep those pesky bears at bay. The downside: with a durable back plate comes extra weight and tool-required adjustability that isn’t exactly trail-friendly. There’s also no pocket for old-school water bottles leaving the user dependent on the hydration pack or fumbling for their Nalgenes in the main compartment. Be warned, some Women’s Adventure testers experienced some lower back strain a few hours post hike.
