In Talkeetna, Alaska, “summit” is a verb, village life recalls the 1990s TV series Northern Exposure, and climbers prep to base camp on the flanks of Denali— at 7,000 feet. My second trip to Alaska started here, and while I wouldn’t be climbing any mountains, I would soon overcome unexpected obstacles on an entirely different level.
