Sometimes my legs don’t work right. My brain sends signals it shouldn’t, or it doesn’t send them at all. Always my body feels like I live above a movie theater where the vibrating subwoofer never ceases.

There are a good number of important firsts in the annals of outdoor sports: In 1975 Japan’s Junko Tabei became the first woman to summit Mount Everest. In 2006 Kit DesLauriers became the first woman to ski from the seven summits, the highest peak on each continent (Tabei was the first to climb all seven).
